NETWORK ARCHITECTURE
The GlobeNet network's self-healing ring has a maximum design capacity of 1.36Tbps over 4 fiber pairs with state-of-the-art, 34-wavelength dense-wave division multiplexing (DWDM) technology. Advanced Synchronous Data Hierarchy (SDH) technologies provide fully protected ring topologies and capacity services ranging from STM-1 (OC-3) to STM-64 (OC-192) with over 99.995% carrier-class reliability.

STATE-OF-THE-ART MAINTENANCE
GlobeNet utilizes the services of leading "wet maintenance" service providers. Currently, the Canadian firm IT Telecom provides services tailored to GlobeNet's specific maintenance requirements. IT Telecom's experts participated in the original construction of the GlobeNet submarine system.

THE GLOBENET SYSTEM
Brasil Telecom of America, Inc. and its affiliated companies in Bermuda, Venezuela and Brazil own the entire GlobeNet network, including the cable landing stations, land equipment (SLTE, SDH – optical to electrical conversion gateways, power generating units, power plants, etc.) and the entire submarine plant (fiber optics and repeaters).
